Emily + Zach Ashland

Love stories have a way of capturing our hearts, transporting us to a world filled with laughter, joy, and endless possibilities. Today, I invite you to join me on a delightful journey as we delve into the enchanting tale of one of my favorite couples. From the moment I embarked on a 48-hour road trip to Colorado to capture their engagement photos, it became clear that this was no ordinary client. Join me as we relive the magical moments, cherish the heartfelt memories, and celebrate the love that has woven its way into our lives.

Even though their wedding was set to take place in Emily's home state of Texas, it was essential to me to honor both sides of their journey. I packed up all my things, plus my sister-in-law, and headed out on a road trip to the beautiful state next door! It was even more fun because I used to live in Aurora, CO which wasn't too from where I was going to take Emily and Zach's photos! What better way to do so than by venturing to the picturesque landscapes of Colorado? By seizing the chance to photograph them amidst breathtaking mountains and vibrant nature, I aimed to encapsulate the essence of their love, bridging the gap between their Texas roots and the newfound beauty they discovered in the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado. This journey was about more than just taking pictures; it was about capturing their love story in its entirety, celebrating the merging of two souls from different worlds.

The day of their wedding was absolutely perfect even in the Texas heat! The bride always sets the tone on wedding days and as I met Emily that morning I knew things were going to be perfect. She was so at peace and ready to marry Zach. The timeline flowed so well thanks to Samantha at Stone House Villa! As the evening went on one of my highlights was from the dancing portion of the evening. During speeches Emily's father promised to get up on a table and dance, I thought this must be a joke but I was happily proved wrong! Both Emily's mom and dad got up and danced as well as Emily and Zach! It was wild and all sorts of fun!

The night didn't stop there though!

After the exit I was able to follow Emily and Zach back to their hotel where we did an "after party" photo shoot! It was perfect and the Austin skyline was magical! I got to deliver all their polaroids from the night as well as share a much needed Diet Coke for myself as they had celebratory drinks of their choosing at the JW Marriott!

"Trusting Amy to be your photographer will be on of the best decisions you ever make!! We wanted a photographer who would listen to our vision and get to know us as a couple. She did our engagement photos in Colorado and WOW they’re perfection. Amy drove through the mountains with us pulling over spontaneously and just enjoying the day together and having so much fun!! For our wedding Amy really listened to what we wanted…the happy tears, double chin laughs, dancing on the tables, she absolutely killed it! We have had SO many guests tell us that they’ve never seen a photographer so involved in capturing every single moment. Not only did she capture our engagement and wedding but she also went along with our post wedding rooftop drink idea and they ended up being our favorite photos from the whole thing! Like drop dead gorgeous magazine quality just amazing. She also went above and beyond creating a beautiful box with printed photos and a flash drive for us to keep. We get to relook at our day through these photos for the rest of our lives and I can’t wait to show them off to our grandkids one day!!"
